What we do

Your health and safety are our most important concerns. For this purpose, a small box was installed, which measures and monitors the indoor air quality in real-time and creating an ideal place to relax, sleep and work. The data is analyzed using artificial intelligence and machine learning. To guarantee a healthy environment for you and our staff, we might take reactive measures upon certain alerts. 

Good indoor air quality is important for human well-being. It affects both cognitive abilities and productivity and can lead to lack of concentration and energy, headaches or even poor sleep.


The ARVE Swiss air quality system aims to improve indoor air quality so that you can feel healthy and safe with us again.

 

How ARVE works

The ARVE Sens at the wall in your hotel room measures temperature, humidity, Air quality index, aerosols, CO2 and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). 

All sensor data is sent to the ARVE cloud and analyzed there with artificial intelligence. The management has access to the data and analyses and can monitor the air quality in the hotel rooms. In case of poor values, proactive actions can be taken for your benefit.

The data is completely anonymous. No personal information is being collected or recorded. Personal information refers to the information that personally identifies you, such as your name, email address or billing information, or other data that can be reasonably used to infer this information.

Air Quality Index (AQI)

AQI means air quality index. It is used by government agencies and internationally recognized as an air quality rating that runs from 0 to 500. The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern.

The AQI is divided into six categories. Each category corresponds to a different level of health concern. Each category also has a specific color. The color makes it easy for people to quickly determine whether air quality is reaching unhealthy levels in their communities.

Aerosols

An aerosol is a collection of solid particles or liquid droplets dispersed in air. They are 10'000 times smaller than human hair. Aerosols can travel great distances and can linger in the air for minutes to hours. It has been proven that aerosols can transport viruses and other diseases such as SARS-Cov-2.

Carbon Dioxid (CO2)

Carbon Dioxide or CO2 is a greenhouse gas that is natural and harmless in small quantities, but as levels rise it can affect productivity and sleep. Most commonly produced indoors by the air we exhale, CO2 levels concentrate indoors with less ventilation.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are toxic chemicals that easily become vapors or gases. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. VOCs are emitted by a wide array of products that contain organic solvents, such as building materials, furniture, cleaning products and cosmetics.

Relative Humidity

Relative humidity is the amount of water vapor actually in the air, expressed as a percentage of the maximum amount of water vapor the air can hold at the same temperature. It is shown as a percent. For example, a relative humidity of 50 percent means the air is holding one half of the water vapor it can hold.

How does the hotel monitor the air quality in this room?


This hotel works in collaboration with ARVE, Swiss Air Quality systems. ARVE measures the air in your room in real-time. With its swiss-made sensors, ARVE collects data from the air in your room analyses it and then provides important insights to the hotel.




What does this device measure in the air of my hotel room?


ARVE Swiss Air Quality Systems measures different metrics in your air: CO2, Temperature, Humidity, PM2.5, PM10, VOC, and aerosols. Those metrics give insights about the air quality and can detect sources of bad air quality. The hotel takes preventive and corrective measures based on these metrics.




Is my privacy ensured?


ARVE Swiss Air Quality Systems is neither recording any audio nor any visuals. We also do not have a name to the guest, so it remains completely anonymous. Find HERE a document outlying the data privacy and security provided by ARVE.

A crucial aspect of this is, that we consistently measure the air quality in your room and take preventive and corrective measures if needed.




Why is good indoor air quality (IAQ) important for me?


IAQ is important for good health, because the average human spends about 90% of their life indoors. In rooms with good air quality, we do not only feel more energized and productive, but we also sleep better and stay healthier all together.




What is considered good indoor air quality (IAQ)?


The qualities of good IAQ should include comfortable temperature and humidity, adequate supply of fresh outdoor air, and control of pollutants from inside and outside of the building.




What is AQI?


AQI means air quality index. It is used by government agencies and internationally recognized as an air quality rating. For example, an AQI value of 50 or below represents good air quality, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality.




What are the negative consequences of bad indoor air quality?

Common short-term effects include dizziness, fatigue, confusion, headaches, nausea, and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat.




What can cause bad indoor air quality?

What are aerosols?

What are PM2.5 and PM10?


PM is also called Particulate Matter, which is a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets present in the atmosphere. The particles present in the air are so small, that the human eye cannot even see them. There are different sources for PM, such as for example automobile emissions, dust, smoke, pollen, mould, organic compounds, and more.




What can I do at home to improve my indoor air quality?


  • There are several low-to-no-cost steps you can take to improve the indoor air quality in your home:
    • Increase ventilation in your home: Opening windows and doors, operating window fans, when the weather permits, or running a window air conditioner with the vent control open.
    • Make sure you provide plenty of fresh air when using products that contain solvents.
    • Source control: eliminate sources of indoor air pollution or reduce their emissions.
